As Commissioner of Labor and Industry, I am dedicated to creating the nation's best system of education, apprenticeship training and workforce development. The challenging economic climate facing the nation makes these efforts all the more important, and the need for action is now.

Many industry sectors are flocking to Oregon, but bringing workers from out of state. Oregon's next frontier begins with identifying what our employers need, and seeing that our schools and training programs are equipped to provide it. It is this renewed effort of workforce development that will lead to more local hires and a stronger, more self-sufficient Oregon economy.
