Progressive Party Endorses Avakian In Secretary of State Race
PORTLAND – Today, the Oregon Progressive Party announced its endorsement of Brad Avakian in the 2016 Democratic primary election. Avakian, currently the state’s Labor Commissioner, is one of three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination this May.
The Oregon Progressive Party is a minor party in the state of Oregon with over 1,600 registered voters.
“The Progressive Party’s State Council unanimously voted to endorse Brad Avakian, because he is the most progressive candidate in the race,” said Jason Kafoury, Secretary of the Oregon Progressive Party. “Avakian agrees on the need to pass campaign finance limits and on other issues that matter to our party. He has endorsed statewide proposed measure IP-77 (2016), which would authorize adoption of limits on campaign contributions”
Brad Avakian thanked the party for their endorsement.
“The Oregon Progressive Party has been a champion for campaign finance reform,” said Brad Avakian. “I am proud to be endorsed by progressive organizations from across the state, including the Oregon Progressive Party.”
The Progressive Party is the second minor party to endorse Avakian in the upcoming primary election, after the Working Families Party announced their endorsement for Avakian in the fall of 2015.
