Building Oregon's Future
Dear friend,
When you drive by a new commercial building, do you ever wonder how the plumbing was installed? How all the wires were run from office to office to office? Or how somebody was able to get to the very top of the building to finish off the walls? And keep the elevators operating?
I do.
I think about these things a lot because part of our work at the Bureau of Labor and Industries is to train people for good-paying jobs in the building trades.
The kinds of jobs that support a family
In recent years, the Bureau of Labor and Industries has overseen the training of more than 6,000 people for well-paying jobs in fields like plumbing, painting, glazers, carpentry, and electrical work. These are the kinds of jobs people can use to support a family and build a brighter future for their children.
Our work has been recognized in the press, by business leaders, and by labor organizations throughout our state.
I am proud to have received the endorsements of the Oregon AFL-CIO, Oregon State Building and Construction Trades Council, United Steel Workers, and many other labor organizations. I’m also proud to number among my supporters business leaders like Steve Malany at P&C Construction and Christine Chin Ryan, Chair of Oregon Small Business for Responsible Leadership who also recognize the crucial work that we’ve done to put people back to work in Oregon. Taking the next steps
While I’m proud of the work that we’ve done to train people for good jobs, there’s still a lot of work left to do. Help me continue to fight for jobs and economic stability – click here to make a secure donation to my campaign.
As Oregon’s economy starts to show signs of recovery, it will be crucial for the Bureau of Labor and Industries to continue in its vital role of giving people the skills and education they need to play a role in our state’s revival.
And with your support, I plan to keep leading this effort.
I am committed to making this investment in our workers and economy - and to get re-elected as your Commissioner of Labor & Industries, I need your help. Make a secure donation to my campaign to ensure we can keep working on these policies and workforce training programs to promote our workforce.
Sincerely,
Brad Avakian
